چکیده

In this paper, we study the performance of block diagonalization (BD) scheme for a downlink multiuser multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system with imperfect channel state information (CSI). At each mobile user, information about the channel is obtained by applying the minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) channel estimation method. The channel state information is fed back to the base station through error-free uplink channels. A theoretical analysis is performed showing that channel estimation errors contribute to co-channel interferences thus deteriorating sum rate capacity. Computer simulations are performed to evaluate the impact of channel estimation errors on the sum rate capacity. The results show that if the MSE of the channel estimation is not less than 10, the impact of channel estimation errors is significant and cannot be neglected. To combat this adverse effect, a proper transmit power level is required for the training signals.

A Lattice-Based MIMO Broadcast Precoder for Multi-Stream Transmission

Precoding with block diagonalization is an attractive scheme for approaching sum capacity in multiuser multiple input multiple output (MIMO) broadcast channels. This method requires either global channel state information at every receiver or an additional training phase, which demands additional system planning. In this paper we propose a lattice based multi-user precoder that uses block diago...

In this paper, the performance of multiuser MIMO ESDM systems in downlink transmission is evaluated in both uncorrelated and correlated time-varying fading environments. In the ideal case, using the block diagonalization scheme, inter-user interference can be completely eliminated at each user; and using the E-SDM technique for each user, optimal resource allocation can be achieved, and spatial...

Multiuser MIMO downlink transmission with BEM-based limited feedback over doubly selective channels

This article studies the problem of limited feedback design for heterogeneous multiuser (MU) transmissions over timeand frequency-selective (doubly selective) multiple-input multiple-output downlink channels. Under a doubly selective propagation condition, a basis expansion model (BEM) is deployed as a fitting parametric model for capturing the time-variation of the MU downlink channels and for...
